The misassociation attack starts when a client attach to an access point that is on a network other than their own. Wireless signals can propagate through walls and other structures making access points visible to a client that accidentally or intentionally may associate with it. If this happens a client may turn out to be connected to an unsafe access point while also connected to a wired corporate network. This may result in an attacker gaining access to a protected network.
